I'm currently running DuraTrac 285/75R16. I love these tires, but I've been driving back and forth across the country a lot recently, and looking for ways to improve what little gas mileage I have. I'm also running 1" SpiderTrax spacers and stock wheels, but I still have a little rub at full steering lock, so I'd like to get rid of that too, if I can.

ANYWAY, I'm thinking the 265/75R16 DuraTracs will do what I want, and they're also like $30/tire cheaper. 31.5" vs 33" tires, so a loss of about .75" of overall height, but 1" slimmer, so I can ditch the spacers.

Here's my problem, I had to replace 2 of the 285s because my roommate borrowed my truck and drove it across the state and ignored the TPMS light until the tire fell off. The whole reason I'm looking at tires is because the other 2 are about bald now, definitely need to be replaced, but the front 2 only have like 15k miles on them.

Here's my questions: would running 31.5" tires on one axle and 33" on the other cause loads of problems? Have any of you switched from one to the other and noticed any huge differences? Gas mileage improvement/loss? Any ideas that I haven't thought of yet?

Other than looking funny, and having a higher front end- shouldn't cause problems.

I wouldn't do it. Sell the two 285s cut your losses, and get 265s all around.
