Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting a Tacoma around the early 2000's model years. I like that bodystyle the most and something that I can afford also. The reason why I'm getting one is that I'm gonna sell my '07 Silverado, its paid off and such. But, I'm gonna get rid of some bills and such. So, once I get everything paid for then use the rest of my money and buy me a Tacoma.

What is a good model year? Does one year have any bugs, etc? I like to one loaded out for the most part like leather seats, guessing they don't have heated seats? Looking for a Crew Cab also something like black or silver.

It will be my DD, my plans are debadge it, colormatch, hids, tint, better sound system and lil bit bigger tires, wheels and maybe a mild lift. Nothing like I did on my Silverado though. Least I'll have more room in this, but I'll be towing some since I got a 4wheeler, etc.

Here is thread on my current truck, might be difficult going down in size lol

Sounds like you're on the market for a 2001-2004 Tacoma body style, anything before that or after will be a different body style. I don't recall any tacomas having leather seats bro but I may be wrong. I'd get something with 4X4, decent miles for the year of the truck you're buying. You can't go wring with a Toyota bro, they last for ever. perhaps start searching what's around your are and when you narrow it down let us know.

Not a Chevey guy but that truck looks great.

    I definitely wanna get a 1st Gen model. Probably about a 01-03.
With 4x4 for sure, looking either to get black or silver, also with the V6.
With that being said, whats the difference between the SR5, Limited and Double Cab?

SR5 used to mead "S" for "Sport", "R" was a motor code and the "5" stood for a 5 speed transmission. Now the SR5 is the medium level package upgrade...some basic features include, bucket seats, better Radio, etc. Every year is different. Limited has more luxury type features, for example, painted mirrors, color match bumpers, stuff like that, again every year is different. Don't see to many limited tacomas around, it's more common on Tundras and 4Runners. Double cab is the 4 door version of the Tacoma.

You were looking for advice on the truck to get. Based on your comments I think you would probably want TRD offroad 4x4. I think they offered it in 2000. Gets you better suspention and a rear differential lock.

Good luck and Welcome to the site!

Thank you. Sounds like something I'm looking for, also is that Double Cab?
Now how many miles I should NOT go over if I was gonna buy one?

If you are looking for a four door Tacoma you want to get double cab. 100,000 miles would be my limit so I could get max use, but depending on the truck maybe 120,000 on original motor, that is.

Man, its hard to find one at a decent price without having too many miles or not too old.
