I'm about to get a set of Hella 500 aux driving lights. My question is there any real issue with light output being diminished with mounting them behind my satoshi grill? I had a past experience when taking the family to Tahoe, one of my headlights went out in the middle of the night during a snow storm going over the mountain. Needless to say it was a white knuckle drive tailing people to use their headlights. So I want some extra lights for a rare occasion like this and the occasional off roading. I like the look of them being behind the grill but I don't wanna sacrifice its functionality too much.

This is during the day with me standing way above the level you would see if you were in front of me in a car. But these things are bright as shit in the dark. Later tonight I will get a picture of them on.

They're nice, I had hella's before I put a 20" light bar behind my mesh grill. I use to have hella 500's with HID conversions behind the grill, with the light bar in the lower grill. The light isn't affected by the mesh.

Yes the grill will diminish the light output. It really depends on what your grill material is and how much it blocks. I have a perforated steel grill and it blocks a significant amount off light. I have 2 hella 500s behind it and ended up putting 100w bulbs in to compensate (they were 55w originally)
