Hello all new guy here and I'm rolling in a 1998 tacoma v6. I'm currently edging closer to 400k. Truck still runs very smooth and power is still there. Currently got a valve cover leak but it keeps ticking along.

Just basic car maintenance. Oil change every 4k with Castrol 10w30 and Purolator filter, timing chain done on time and always routine brakes, tires, etc.

I use about 1/2 quart oil between changes and I think staying on top of that has helped. I officially made Monday and Thursday my check and top off what's needed day. Basically both those days before I leave for work i do a quick once over and maintain all fluid levels. Seems to work pretty good.

The Ford, Chevy and Dodge guys are jealous. Their Odo's never get that high.

Nice going keeping up with the maintenance... that's how your truck thanks you.

I've got a 1998 SR5 XCab, 4x4 with 248K. Run Mobil 5w-30 every 5k. My valve covers started leaking about 6 months ago. Ordered the parts over the holiday break. Took a few hours to replace but no leaks now.

    Great job on the milestone....

How did your frame hold up over the years? - is that a hole close to the rear leaves?

I'm the 3rd owner and truck had close to 60k when I got it from my cousin. My uncle is the original owner.
Frame is very solid with no problems or rust. Body is all scratched up and a dent here or there but still pretty solid.

These engines are known for reliability but how about that original auto tranny holding up.
