What should the normal RPM be of a 2005 Tacoma with 217,000 miles? Right now my trucks idles at 500RPM and driving about 30 MPH it runs about 1500RPM and at 70 MPH it runs about 2000RPM. The frame was replaced last month under the northeast recall and it hasn't been running right.

I'm at the same RPMs on my 2015 with less than 1000 miles. Not much has changed in 10 years.

70 @ 2000 rpm is usually the standard for most Toyota engines, well at least for the suv/truck based vehicles.

the 12 Tacoma and the 14 4runner run exactly at those specs.

so did my 06 Tacoma and 04 4runner.

For automatics. 6-speed manual turns 2500 rpm at 70 mph. Rpm vs speed is about gears and tires, not engines.

My 2013 idles at about 750-800 rpm's in park, around 500 in gear.
