How was your experience installing your own lifts? I have done my research and wanna go with pro comp 6". I'm a BUILT NOT BOUGHT guy, but just how hard is this install?

Depends on how good you are with cutting the front center crossmember out of your truck and welding a whole new one in.

You're going to get more overall clearance from a quality 3" suspension lift, which seems counter intuitive at first... until you look at what's involved in getting the correct geometry on a 6" lift.

it took me a day and half. Front is the biggest pain in the ass. If i were you i would stay away from 6 inch, if you planning on going hard in the paint. Wish i never did it.

I already have a 3" but I want more. I have been going back and forth with this because of the crossmember cutting. So I hear ya on that.. but man, they do look good with 6's

My number one question is if you wheel hard IF so don't do it.

Here is what i have done with my 6 inch lift.

Where I'm at there isn't any rock climbing or anything like that. Just some easy to get to fishing spots and some dirt road ranches. So performance is not a necessity, otherwise I would consider other setups

I plan on installing my own lift when I get around to it. From what I have read if you take your time and your not in a hurry its not that bad to do as long as your comfortable cutting the cross member. Im going with the RCD 5" lift tho

My best advice (no offense to anyone) but, look into other companies besides pro comp and fabtech. When I came across bds I knew it was more geared for actual offroad purpose.

This. You either go full mall crawler or practical. I agree, a Tacoma with the 6" on 35's looks awesome but most people who do that never leave the highway. You would be better suited with a quality 3" lift and be able to do the same things that you would with the 6.

I went with a 6inch BDS lift and fox shocks with 35's. Only 500$ to install. I've read that installing it yourself is only 3 out of 5 stars for complication. BDS installers are certified by bds and they just don't hand out certifications. uploadfromtaptalk1423536852085.jpg

Was the backspacing on the wheels the cause of the rub on the body mount? What was the backspacing?

Back spacing was 5 inches. Bds says maximum 4.5.We went with 5 because that's what we were told would be okay until I read the manual myself. It causes the tire to rub the upper support arm at full stuff. So far it hasn't been a problem and we get a tighter turning radius. But if it becomes a problem I will look into new wheels or wheel spacers.I believe the body mount rubbed because of the larger 35's that nitto trail grapplers are.It was just so close that we chose to chop the mount. It was a tough choice on a new 2015 but after seeing the high quality mod work I was extremely happy and would do it again. It was only80$.I'll have to post a picture sometime.

Curious how a 3" would be better in this pic?

I think the Pro Comp coilovers make u extra biased:p

Only place a 3" lift could have more clearance than a 6" is under the front diff.
