I have a general question for people who drive either GM or Chrysler products. My wife and I have always had either toyota, Honda, or subaru and they all follow a similar pattern of basic controls where you expect to find them. In the past month I've had 3 different rental cars, 2 chrysler 200's and a chevy something (little sh*t Box). Both the chryslers and the chevy had really odd controls, the newest chrysler especially. It has a round knob for shifting that you need to turn, and the climate controls are on the touch screen so you need to look away from the road to change things. Overall I guess I'm just wondering why some auto makers feel like making things more complicated than they need to be, what's wrong with simple basic controls? Is it me and I'm just behind the times? My wife's 13 subaru has plenty of high tech things inside but it's all easy to use.

Because the new Chrysler is basically a Fiat product:)

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
not to mention the ease of maintenance.

Fiat acquired Chrysler a few years ago, now they own many brands including Alfa-Romeo, some of the exotics, truck divisions...The new Dart is a rebranded Alfa Romeo for example...
