All this talk about ECUs made my truck mad. It was throwing codes this morning about evap problems. Mechanic said it needs a reflash due to known buggy programming, so I get it back tomorrow with a $250 lighter wallet.

You hit the nail on the head. It's refreshing to see some common sense.

Too many folks buy into the "but it's 5% less emissions..." argument forgetting that fuel usage increased by double that, resulting in more net emissions. See E85.

Exactly. Here is another fantastic example; we got a bunch of obamabucks to install some "zero emissions" generators. Basically, you push some Hydrogen gas into a magic box and electricity comes out. I thought, well this is kind of cool, but what happens when they break? Less than two years later all of them were in the trash, and the company that made them was belly up. How many tax dollars were wasted? I don't know but you could have bought ten diesel generators at least... not to mention the cost of getting the Hydrogen bottles refilled along the way... so we ended up installing propane generators in their place that were "left over" from hurricane Katrina ten years ago. Go figure.

I'm in Pendleton and Haws is in Walla Walla. There are lots of built Tacoma's around, but not many on TW.

Yeah, you want this one that they are talking about. Instead of a solenoid pack, it is a contactor pack. This is the current technology that WARN is switching all their controls to, so you get better weather protection, reliability, and safety. You can read more here

The Hermiston Toyota dealership was bought out by Rogers out of Idaho... and they sell "built" tacomas now. They have lame ass bedside stickers that say "RMX edition"

I haven't stopped by there in a while, might have to go check it out. It always makes me sad when dealers do drop bracket lifts and ruin new trucks though.

I know. What I don't understand is how dealers can put a spacer lift and 33s on a brand new truck... A new truck shouldn't have any rubbing but they also shouldn't be hacking away at the wheel wheels on a new truck either... It also seems pretty hard to avoid rubbing the body mount...

That's awesome you made it down to KOH! I watched as much of it as i could streaming online. I have a few friends that were competing in the backdoor shootout and one in the everyman challenge. That turbo buggy from Rydel Fab is fun to watch! I made it down a few years ago and rode along in the 4 seat buggy with the green skulls and led whips. It was such a blast and can't wait to make it down again soon.

Good timing Mike, as I am about two weeks from purchasing a winch. So as I read, the Solenoid pack (vr series) are not as good/reliable/weather protected as the m-series and higher.

I am thinking the m-8000, non synthetic, which has the updated electricals..
