got a warrior bumper waiting down inthe springs for install, just waiting on a winch...new suspension coming later in the spring...working on gathering parts to black it out more...new tires....then a lot of electrical work...

Just pulled the trigger on this precleaner. Thanks for the research. Where did you get the adapter and black clamps? I've got access to shrink tube that fits very nicely over the hose clamps. Let me know if you want a couple pieces and I'll get them in the mail to you.

Interesting that I took a look at your build thread Bob , because I've been investigating the pre-cleaner market. I was pretty well set on the Donaldson but couldn't make up my mind on which model ? I called Donaldson tech support for some more information and was given to this woman (I won't name) that had the personality of a door knob , she also didn't answer any of my questions ? As the call was ending , I said "Thanks for No help - --- "
She says "Your Welcome" .... Click !
So that was a week ago , I was turned off to the point that I just put the whole idea on the back burner ..... So glad I did .
I now see the Engineaire you have talked about here. Did some research and I like this unit .The Demo video on their web-site was the final closure I needed on feeling good about a pre-cleaner and which model I want. Engineaire for sure !
I started the order process based on your links to ebay when I discovered that there are 3&4 inch sizes available.
Why are you using the reducer ?
This confused me .... I even ran outside in 0* weather with a flash light and ruler in hand ( in my Jammie's) to see what the airflow measured at the intake. Without removing the head (intake) I see 3" maybe a wee bit more 3 1/8 ?
So .... as soon as find out why you got the reducer I can continue ordering.
Nice thread Bob , good pics , good info , No Drama ! Thanks for doing this

yea weird...when i was getting the reducer for my other donaldson, i had measured 3.5" OD on the airflow...http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-builds/157700-nyco-build-thread-77.html#post6865999

that time i used a spectre 3.5-4" ... got a different brand this time to change things up a bit

good thing about getting the 4" intake to fit is greater CFM through the pre cleaner...

if your ID on the airflow will be tight with the 3" intake pre cleaner, then you can toss that in there and secure it with some screws so it won't go flying...maybe throw some tape around the inside of the airflow...

It's coming along. I just got a "borrowed" arc welder at the house. So it's going to be helpful. Almost done boxing in the rear frame. I'll post some stuff once I get done with that part.

note... 4" clamp is too small... just got a 4 1/4-5" and it fits

and the 3.5" is too small for the small end...so i'll use the 4" for that end

    so some picture updates...

the 4-3.5" reducer is definitely a snug fit on the enginaire...

I put a screw in the top to help secure the filter to the reducer and for now I have the 5" clamp on the top...I might end up throwing some rivets in the top connection and get rid of the top clamp

but I like how it sits so far..the cleaner itself is slightly smaller than the previous Donaldson that I had on the truck and I was able to push the new setup down further than the Donaldson keeping it lower...

or maybe the roof rack has me thinking it's lower haha
