Engine knock

    My dealer ship where I bought my truck said its normal for the Tacoma's to have a knocking sound when they worm up is this true and if not what is it and how do I fix it?

    Fog light mod, JBA LT headers, drop-in k&n filter, energy bushings, tried fold topper, 2nd air filter removed, all new stereo system minus subs, plastisol the wheels.
    That's the norm. How many miles u got?
    I have 229k and everyone will tell u its norm.

    And some motor oils are louder than others. Are you using a synthetic?

    It only has 30k and I'm not sure what oil is in it right now just bought and next oil change isn't for a couple thousand miles more. I'm going to use synthetic when I start changing it hope that helps

    There's actually a TSB for 2012s and newer I believe. I took my 2014 to the dealer and TSB-0044-14 was completed. My pinging noise was gone and also my gas mileage was increased a little.

    Mine does it, and it scares me every time. Even louder after dealer oil change, (guessing oil type). Going back to a part synthetic blend next time. When it's cold out, I'd swear a rod is about to fly out the side of the engine.

    Everyone says it's normal, but I still don't like it.

    It is not a knock, a knock doesn't go away when warmed up. It is Piston Slap.

    GM has issues as well. The 4.0L V6 engine is known to also suffer from this. It is usually not an issue.
