New member here! I just wanted to finally join the forum since I anticipate buying the new 2016 Tacoma 4x4 TRD V6. I am already looking at different 6 inch lift kits and Fuel wheels/tires that I can throw on it! I can't wait and am so glad that it will finally have leather interior w/ all the new technology. :D

I'm giving my '96 Tacoma to my son this summer. So I've been looking at new Tacoma's. Then I realize.... if I wait a few months(?) later into the summer I could possibly get a '16.

    Discussion topics:

    1) When would we be able to drive a '16 off the lot? Late summer? Any concrete dates?

    2) When Looking at current Tacoma's I was surprised how much they hold their value. 2 and 4 year old models aren't much cheaper than buying new. I was wondering if when the '16 is out, the current gen Tacoma's would become a little cheaper. Thoughts?

To be honest, the main reason why I never bought any of the previous Tacos was because of no dark interior, no leather, and technology sucked. Now it is getting a better looking rear end, nice cosmetic features while still maintaining that nice taco look and a freaking push start button. This mean no more keys to fiddle with and also sensor lock / unlock when ever you get near the truck. I'm loving the new tech! I also forgot to mention about the sunroof!

Definitely the value will drop and you will see big rebates on the 2015 model. I would wait until the new ones come out. It's a win/win if you wait. You'll get to see the new taco in person and if you like it you buy or if you don't like it then you can get a 2015 left over on the lot for cheaper.

It will be on dealer lots in July, ready to go.

I've read the basic internet news about the '16, seen some pictures. But I've had my '96 for 15 years. I haven't paid attention to the new Tacomas for....15 years :) Now I need to understand '15 vs '16, tradeoffs, features etc.

It might be too early to say, but amongst you Tacoma groupies is there a consensus? The '16 is a huge leap forward, why would you even look at a '15. OR The '16 is just more gadgets, save some money and get a '15. OR ??? Maybe it is just too early to speculate.

I'd like to think the '16 would be much more advanced, better more efficient engine, plus cool creature comforts and technology.

Spend some time reading through the 3rd Gen threads...lots of others who love (and many who hate) the 2016. I'm on the "love" side of the equation.

News from my dealer is that production in San Antonio is scheduled to begin on 15 July, so they will start showing up on lots in mid to late August. If you're really antsy like I am, go see your dealership's inventory manager NOW. Get on their allocation order list, and know what you want ahead of time. When they place their allocation orders in May, yours can be on that list. There will likely be some tweaking before the order is placed, as the dealers know pretty much what we know.

    Good luck!

I might trade my 15 in for a 3rd gen in about 3 years...
