why is the latter a better option for the salt infested roads of the NE? different build quality or material selection? are icons known for issues with oxidation?

These are set by a perch, there are no threads to get corroded, or rusted and such. The ones from Toyotec are set it and forget it.

Adjust the coilovers to the height you want and leave them. No different then 5100s since you don't plan to adjust your ride height. You will get a much better ride from a true coilover vs the 5100/spring combo.

I have the 5100's right now on my stock Sport Coils at 1.75. I am just afraid to spend over a 1,000 on a set of coilovers and have them rot away. I am a Mall Krawler so would it be nice to get the Icon 2.5 Coilovers? Yes it would but probably not worth the risk.

I am not handy at all, so it would be cheaper to have someone take a whole assembly out and put a new assembly in. Because every time I ask for local help I get do not get any responses. Opposed no, but I would like to use Eibach's and get the full 3 inches up front. So I would guess I would set the Eibach's/5100 at .85 and use the 1/4 spacer on the drivers side. But I don't think that will be me the full 3 inches up front. I would be more than happy to buy all the stuff if someone could help with it all.

I'm thinking about getting Icon CO's too, but wondering the same thing with the rust.

Also, how they'll handle on our crusty, pitted, potholed, frost heave'd NE roads(I'm in NH). Most of my driving is 45-50mph on cruddy country roads.

That's what these are for! Grease up those threads and cover the springs with these. They're not 100% weatherproof but they do offer a good amount of protection, especially if you grease the threads first.

I just got them put on here in northern Cali and on my way home they put the crapy potholed roads to shame going 45-50 mph. The fear of rust due to salted roads is another matter that we only deal with when going up to Lake Tahoe. ]http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/02/11/8f52b00e19a0a1b69593cc6246efd913.jpg[/IMG]29693272e8b551297549cfcc601548dd_72be9fbce4f9cc658bd11b15b0aaed0ec3c7ee40.jpg8a0b8bb21460d6fb8cb5aee865c25bd3_4e92e02e503b47e8b2392622d7961e61ab9921f2.jpg

The roads near where I live only are patched every year so those patches are now 1-2 foot wide pot holes that now are no problem. Before I got the whole rig rattle. I have not been up to Tahoe yet this year, but I can't see 80 Being worse than Sanoma county roads.
