I have just under 1000 miles on my truck and I swear within the past week or so it has gotten louder inside the cabin when sitting at an idle. When I drove it off the dealership lot, at a standstill in Drive you could barely hear the engine purring along.

Now, as I'm sitting at a red light with the engine in Drive, I can hear a more pronounced engine hum in the cabin.

Not sure if these are contributors, but the noise started after I installed some AVS door sills and filled up with 91 octane fuel.

Maybe just my sensitivity to it has changed? My dad has an 04 4Runner with the same V6 and his is a lot quieter at idle.

You're probably just paranoid - no offense. New truck, it's understandable. I sometimes find myself agonizing over every little knock or rattle on my way to work.

Nah I have the plastic step sills, not the window things. The sound only happens while the truck is NOT moving.

While I sought out the Tacoma for the gnarly little shit it is ... if you try swapping out your crank-driven fan for a set of electric fans... your truck will be quite the polite little lady at stop lights.
