    Dave @ Trends Auto special?

Seriously Spacer lifts are a rip off and will cause more harm than good and the ride will be stiffer.

I mean you might as well add a 3 inch body lift and throttle body spacer and a performance chip while you're at it.

Ok so can anyone tell me what the cheapest but good 3" Lift would be. Like I said I don't want to do any rock climbing or big 4 wheeling just some room in case something comes up. Iv only had this truck a week and no nothing about 4x4

Why does the rear always have a option for a smaller lift. Like 3" kit in front and 2" in rear. Wouldn't you want 3" all around?

People want to get rid of the "raked" look so they have 3" front and 2" rear to compensate for that.

That's fine. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Drive the truck. Enjoy it. Learn how to actually use it to 75-80% of it's capability 'as is'.

When/if you get in trouble, evaluate why. Is it the driver or is it the equipment? (in the automotive world the nut behind the wheel is often the loosest ;) )

Since you should not be having problems in exceedingly difficult areas, learn how to recover, both with a partner and when alone.

Once you know enough to manage the equipment well, as is, you'll start to have comprehension for what's needed for the next step. Kinda like learning a sports cars limits on HP street tires before you slap on racing slicks.

If you want a "small" "cheap" lift for performance then don't get one at all money = performance for the most part. Your truck will be fine without it based on the descriptions you are giving. Get some good aggressive tires that are a tad biggerand have those as your "just in case" then when you get hooked and want to spend more money on your truck buy a nice suspension kit that will give you good performance.

I have my OME kit not because it helps me get through the rough spots on the trail bu because it helps carry all the weight I usually have in the truck when I go camping. To be honest I probably don't gain that much height when I am full loaded were it not for my taller tires.

On our Tacoma trucks the rear lift required is essentially half of what the front end is. Mine is a prerunner and is equipped with 4" lifted spindles and 2" 3 leaf AAL ( add a leaf ) pack in the rear and I sit dead even.

Slight hijack.......... I get it, in terms of looks for leveling.

I've wondered why the rake was engineered in. Anyone know for sure?

I suspect two possibilities. One is to have it be level when loaded, one is to assist with handling when unloaded.

When adjusting the suspension on my street driven race car I started off removing the factory 1/2" rake, after dropping the car a bit. Looked cool. Then I discovered I messed up the bias of the car and compromised handling. When I put the rake back in it, the cool kids snickered, at least until they saw my time slips. Hence my wondering.

Not trying to say Tacoma is a 'racer'. But there is some reason the rake is there, not 'just because'.

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
Trucks are meant to haul/tow. In order to accomodate the weight, manufacturers give the rear more lift so when the truck is used as a truck to haul/tow, the rear will squat and become level.

If an already leveled truck (when not hauling/towing) is used to haul/tow, the truck will then have negative rake (higher in the front), which is unsafe.
