New member here to Tacoma World looking to get a little suspension lift advice. I purchased a 2015 DCSB 4X4 Sport in November 2014 and am getting ready to pull the trigger on a lift.

I’ve already purchased wheels and tires for my Tacoma. Having had several lifted trucks, I’m looking to keep things reasonable with this truck. I purchase 16x8 Black Rock 908Ms with 4.5” back spacing and 265 75 16 BFG All Terrains. Like I said, I’m trying to keep things reasonable. My last truck was a Dodge 2500 with a Cummins lifted on 35s and even with the 5.9 Cummins you could feel the 35s power wise and they rubbed the control arms. I don’t think I want to deal with this again.

For the suspension on the Tacoma I’m thinking to keep the lift around 2” to 2 ½”, so the tires are proportionate to the amount of lift. I’m on the fence between two different lift options

Option 1 would be to use OME 884X springs on 5100 Bilsteins with either a 1” block in the rear or 1.5” wheelers AAL and LR UCAs. Bilstein 5100 rears.

Option 2 is to run Icon coil covers (stage 1) with Icon tubular UCAs and Icon 1.5” AAL or a 1” block in the rear. Icon 2” shocks in the rear.

Obviously there’s a large price difference between these two options. I’m wondering if the extra cost associated with the Icon suspension is worth it. The truck will be driven daily and only used off road occasionally. I want to ensure the truck still maintains excellent road manners. One benefit to running the Icon kit is the ability to adjust to the exact ride height that I’m looking for. Also, if I decided to step up the 285s at some point in the game it’d be a simple adjustment.

Sticking with the 884 5100 lift keeps the cost down and since I’m currently living in Maryland (military) I wouldn’t have to worry about corrosion on a set of $1000 coil overs and uniball UCAs, due to salted roads.

Looking for advise from anyone who has used either of these two options. How was the ride after the lift? How did the lifted height look with 265s? Are coil overs going to be a pain to maintain on the east coast? I search through so many lift threads on Tacoma Worlds and things still aren’t very clear. Some of the pictures of trucks with 3” lifts and 265s look great, while others look like the tires are to small. It’s information overload! What are your thoughts Tacoma World?
