I was originally going to purchase a 2012 regular cab Tacoma and I ended up buying a 2012 extended cab F150. Needles to say, I traded in the F150 for a 2011 6spd A4 after 11 months. The main reason I traded it in was the gas mileage. The 5.0 V8 rarely averaged over 14mpg. If the new Fords are as efficient as they claim to be, I can't say I wouldn't be impressed. After 12 months of being without a truck, I pulled the trigger on a 2011 5spd regular cab Tacoma and after driving it for 12 months I have to say I couldn't be happier.
