Make sure you don't have an auto limited slip differential I think there's an additive or different fluid you need to add.
The Transmission I just bought the Toyota WS ATF fluid. I can't remember if it was synthetic or not. All Transmissions and Differentials that I've worked on have a fill plug, overflow plug and a drain plug. So instead of a dip stick you fill up fluid till it comes out of the overflow hole.
I followed this for the transmission http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/68462-diy-full-flush-automatic-transmission.html
    I found this one too.

I still got to look into the power steering. I might do just a flush today with the turkey baster method. (Suck out the old fill up with new fluid.) and engine oil change unless my muffler gets here then I'm going to fire up my Lincoln Electric welder :D. Then I'm going to burn that in the stock muffler's location lol. I just recently found out the stock TRD exhaust are mandrel bends! So if I did a drop in muffler it's basically the same as a full cat back system.

I'm not an expert mechanic, but I like to wrench on anything lol. Luckily here their are plenty of helpful people with knowledge and tutorials for most things on our Tacomas.

Check the NHSTA site for recalls on it unless you know they've been done. They have a nifty feature now where you can put in the Vin and it will tell you if the recalls for your particular truck have been done or not.
