So I recently joined the taco club after being a ford guy for years. Don't hate too much. But that means I'm new to these machines.

I have a 2006 TRD 4.0 6spd 4x4 and it has the cruise control switch/paddle/stick/stalk whatever it's called mounted on the steering wheel, but it doesn't seem to activate anything.

I don't have CC, and the light doesn't flash. I'm wondering if it's possible that the shaft was installed without being hooked up? I've heard other companies (ford) does this where every model has a CC button, but not all of them have CC. Is CC even an option for my 6spd?

Couldn't find anything with my google-fu so I'm asking y'all. Thanks in advance!

    Reserected from the dead.
There have been reports of the spiral cable being defective. I can't remember specifically, but there may have been a recall.

They're all wired for CC, but if it came with the CC stalk from factory there's a defect. Is it a manual? I've heard that wiring the clutch override switch is a PITA, so maybe someone gave up half way through the project.

Dumb question, but did you push the "on" button on the end of the stalk?
When it's on there should be the word "cruise" lit in green on the dash.

Yes, I have used Toyo CC before :p It is kinda weird, but nothing too hard to get used to. Sometimes dumb questions answer dumb problems though!

I've had the codes checked and it doesn't come up with anything.

I also looked up the Spiral Cable recall and it doesn't cover the 06, just 09-11.

I read something about a fuse that possibly controls CC too, but can't find which one it might be. I'll check under the hood this morning.

Spiral cable recall covers 05-11, my 06 was included.

There is a fuse for CC, but can't remember if it's under the dash or under the hood.

Ok, I checked all the fuses and they were fine. Then I called the dealer and they said they have record of my truck (via the VIN) having the spiral cable replaced in 2012.

So...still open to suggestions! I'm gonna look into the steering wheel to make sure the connections are good.

    So there's another thread http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/23359-cruise-control.html

One of the guys talks about a 20A fuse under the hood that he labels as "cruise" but I can't find it. The only 20A I have under the hood is for the EFI and that one is fine. It could be possible that I just don't have a fuse installed, but I can't find another image of the fuse diagram to compare to mine. Any suggestions?
