One day I start my Tacoma and roads were in bad shape. I turn the switch to 4 high and nothing happen. I tried everything I could not being a mechanic. I change the switch on the dashboard that cost $68.00 still didn't help' This past Saturday went to move my truck up the driveway and all it did was back wheels spin. I try to put it in 4 High and 4 low nothing. So I put it in park and shut off the engine but not thinking I left it in 4 low and went into the house. Sunday morning I went to start my truck and both 4 high and 4 low was working. I spent all day to figure out what going on and here what I got. If I start my truck than switch to 4 high nothing happens. But if I shut the truck off turn the switch to 4 high or 4 low 4x4 works. I try it all day and it works this way all the time. So what I'm asking is has anyone ever had this problem where you have to turn on the 4x4 switch before starting your truck to get it in 4x4 and to get out of 4x4 I must turn switch to 2 high and shut the engine off. Anyone help would be appreciated.
