One (of 4) of my original IAC valve screws stripped (2RZ-FE). Is there any reason why replacing them with stainless steel socket cap screws (with stainless steel lock washers) wouldn't work? They are M5-0.8 pitch, 16mm thread length. I got these at Ace. They are marked A2-70, which from reading falls between grade 5.8 and 8.8.

They screw into the throttle body. Is the throttle body aluminum?

So long as the numbers are correct,,let er rip. Easy to overtighten now,,so be aware. Much easier to work on and set correct torque spec with the hex drive.

What grade ss is it? A2-70? If it were me i'd replace those bolts with the same grade as the originals.
Be aware any type of stainless steel gulls. Use a good dab of anti seize on all ss bolts when assembling.

some metals don't play well with each other so DONT DO IT, read why here: http://www.finishing.com/271/67.shtml

if you want the allen style then use regular steel ones, the black ones, they might rust a little on the surface but it wont weaken them.

best thing is just get another similar screw at the hardware store
