After recently purchasing my new 2015 Tacoma. I'm thinking of ordering a bug/stone deflector for it from WeatherTech. Are there any thoughts from anyone on this? My concerns are the deflector bending back at highway speeds and possibly damaging my finish on the edge of my hood. It might be an unfounded concern but I thought I'd ask here to fellow Tacoma owners!!

    Thanks!

took mine off--there are hood bumps so it will not damage piant--not a concern. they should be included if you were to purchase one-be sure to ASK

Welcome to TW! I personally don't like them because they are pointless and ugly IMO

There have been several threads about this (use the search function and you'll see several); I was debating some kind of frontal protection as well soon after I purchased my Tacoma- bug deflector, bra, 3M Scotchguard film, etc. I eventually decided to just get a paint pen and so now I spot treat any chips as they occur.

Well it seems I'm in the minority. I have one and it is the Weathertech. It sits far enough off the hood and is stiff enough on my 2015 that I didn't need to put the rubber bumpers on the hood. No way it could possibly touch even at speed or run through high force wind car wash drying equipment. The dark smoke looks almost black on my Super White and I think it adds a nice contrast particularly when I change over to the color matched grill. I live in Stonesville Vermont and I'm here to tell you they do save the hood and have on all of my rigs. To each his own.

i have one on my white 08. never damaged the hood. have about 243,000kms on it now. just had the front end repainted due to an accident last summer and my painter counted 5 rock chips on my hood. not sure if its due to the bug deflector or the tacoma paint being more resiliant to chips but i think its worth it.

looks good imo too. the tacoma front end looks too soft otherwise.

mine is the oem accessory one though.

Here is mine as mentioned above. The Weather Tech is a very good quality unit!

I have an AVS deflector and it's very good quality, it doesn't bend back even when driving on the Highway, its very sturdy. And to those who mentioned regarding scratching the hood, have you seen one properly installed close enough? I'm not sure where some get info to make that claim of it damaging the truck hood, mine doesn't even touch the top of the hood. It's serves a purpose to create an upward stream of wind thus eliminating most bugs being splattered on your windshield. It also protects from small rock chips on the hood too. I was driving back to Tulsa on I-40 in Arkansas, and it was snowing, my windshield was clear of most snow too compared to other drivers on the road. They aren't pointless, unless you don't need it for its intended purpose. I recommend it!

I would get one. Have a weathertech on my 12, although it's not made in USA, it's made in Germany, still a solid piece of mind when traveling down country roads as I do everyday to get to work. Have one on my 05 since brand new and i cant even find a nick or scratch or anything. I think it's well worth it.
