Props to op for not coming on and getting butthurt / leaving. Most new people with these kinds of responses do. Hope you find the Tacoma for you OP. like I said eibachs and billies at 0.85 are the cheap 2.5 lift option and provide a stiff ride. I'm not sure which is stiffer, billies at 2.5 or what I just said.

hey OP, just keep looking for a stock truck that meets your criteria, the suspension will be soft on used tacoma in you price range, you will need to plan on spending a few bucks to fix that after purchase. if you want a firm ride either pick up some bilstein or ome fronts, along with an add a leaf for the rear and a stiffer rear shock. the steering is what it is, i never once thought it was bad, my brand new 2015 jeep jk doesn't steer on the road anywhere near as nice as my tacoma did.. just be aware that your mpg will still not be very good with the 4cyl engine, but will be a little better than the v6 until you load it up, then it feels a bit weak but if speed is not of concern then it does the job. good luck!
