Toyota all weather floor mats. Mag light that clunks around in the jack compartment. Dog hair. Dog drool on the windows.
I used to use Hercules terra tracs.. Cheap tire, But decent tread. Went through two sets on my 94 toyota, And a set on a 98" Ranger I had briefly. Cheap tire, But I don't off road. And the tread hooked up in the snow well.
    As i said, Cheap tire.

I just picked up the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTracs from TireRack last week, and I'm loving them. Not only do they look great, but they meet "industry severe snow service standards." I don't know what that means exactly, but it sounds good nonetheless!

Removed mud flaps, disabled seat belt chime & door lock chirps, tinted front windows, Nitto Terra Grapplers, AAL TSB.
I run Nitto Terra Grapplers (TRD O/R OEM size) and have been happy with them. I also ran these (over-sized) on my 04 4runner and they worked out well. That being said, Im with JohnV... it really depends on what you need/want - and of course how much you want to spend.

On my 08... I put the Wrangler SilentArmors and they were amazing. I will be doing the Revo's version 1 this time around... Got them for 150 each installed. They will be going on tomorrow. I originally wanted to Revos the first time around, but they were nowhere to be found.

I saw this thread and thought I would make my first post in here....I work for a national tire store chain, and I have had experience with all of these tires. The DuraTracs I have only put on 1 vehicle to this point but they definitely look like they would be excellent winter tires. Anyway, here's how I rank all terrain tires in terms of all around performance (mileage, bad weather traction, etc etc)...also taking into account that you won't be doing any off roading.

    1. Michelin LTX AT2 - only drawback is the price, these tires are AWESOME.
    2. Nitto Terra Grappler
    3. BFG All Terrain
    4. General Grabber AT2

Reilly, I don't mean to derail this thread as you're the OP but I gotta weigh in here. I'm in the same boat as you as far as needing tires soon. I'm in Cleve and have lake effect snow - sometimes heavy. I have the bfg rugged fails on there now (from the factory) and they suck in heavy snow.

I like the look of the bfg a/t's but when you look here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...odel=All-Terrain+T/A+KO&partnum=675QR6ATAKO10, to the left of the picture and left of the gray box, it says "not for severe snow" but it has high ratings for snow? What's up with that? And, being E rated, they're supposedly stiffer and provide for a harder ride - don't want that either. Is there some size of the bfg a/t I'm not seeing? I'm looking for 265/70R16 or 265/75R16. I've read somewhere that the tread design of the bfg a/t's does not "unload" the snow effectively and it ends up packing around the tire - I assume this is only an issue with deep snow and therefore the "not for severe snow" rating. I'm not saying this is the truth, I'm just on a fact finding mission. Does anyone know what the truth is here? Is there a 265/75 or 70R16 that's not E rated? Or can I go larger than 265 with stock rims to find a different rating than E?

I've also been looking at the Revo's as Will and others have been recommending for a long time and I believe and they look to be the best to me in light of not finding what I'm looking for in the bfg a/t's.

Found these: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/tires/bf_goodrich/product/submitProductSize.do;jsessionid=k4XyKPXRqnfpnzFf16q6SlsQk7M1XY11ccRPPqCJLkqCq27hmcK1p6nfWcxhfWctpcQ37kZRmpk52yq65xKHSgftSlncp4qXfNK1Z4vQpC1zL2ybcB43K1NGVBjyrtB1!-1068332802!1502773558?pc=38125&typ=Truck%2FSUV&tmn=All+Terrain+T%2FA+KO, but they're out of stock and special order not to mention expensive.

    ph16 -

As for the BFG "Not Rated for Severe Snow" identification, it only means that that particular size of the BFG All Terrain has not passed the industry test for snow traction. I would take that with a grain of salt because most of the BFG All Terrain sizes have been tested and passed with flying colors. Just because it says "Not Rated for Severe Snow" does not mean that they will not be excellent in the white stuff. They simply haven't passed the test and consequently are not branded with the "snowflake on the mountain" symbol on the sidewall. Most BFG AT's do have the symbol however. Same tire, but that size just hasn't passed the test. Not a big deal. Still should work well in the snow.

Some other tires that are rated for severe snow and have the symbol would be the Goodyear Fortera Tripletred, General Grabber AT2 (which is almost identical to the BFG), Goodyear DuraTrac, Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor, can't think of others off the top of my head but that's a good start. Keep in mind that these tires also may have sizes that to date have not yet passed the test and will not have the symbol on the sidewall.

In terms of load rating, definitely stay away from E load range tires unless you are planning on doing heavy towing, they are heavy and will wear out your front end parts prematurely, and like you said they will stiffen up your ride significantly. I thought for sure that the BFG is available in a load range "C" in the sizes you identified, but I could be mistaken. Those would be the tires to go for IMHO. I haven't heard much good feedback regarding the Revo's but then again I don't sell very many of them and every tire reacts differently with every vehicle.

I still think the best AT tire out there is the Michelin LTX AT2, but again that is my purely subjective opinion due to personal experience.

I live in Edmonton AB and frequent home to BC and over to northern SK all the time. Last winter I ran the BFG AT's and had no problems. I didn't even throw any sand bags in the back, (although I usually have 50#'s of hockey equipment back there. The traction was great all year round through heavy snow and just plain extreme cold!

Do the Michelin LTX AT2 have the mountain/snowflake symbol to identify they meet industry severe snow service standards.
