Well took my truck to a different dealership than normal. Frame failed due to a soft spot on the frame and other possible issues. Was told 6-8 weeks until frame comes in. I was told frame, lower control arms, 4 leaf pack, break lines hardware and many other parts. Also told if I brought in aftermarket parts (suspension) and bolt on no charge for labor due to the truck being strip down and would need to be put together. Had I gone to the dealership I normally visit, they would have passed it or gave me some other bullshit. So what do I want to buy!!!!

Where was the "soft spot"? Was it the area left of the driver's side cat?

Yes it was sorry should have made that comment. Also when I got home I looked under the truck at the inside of the frame. Back near the exhaust the frame looked like it was starting to flake or peel. I Will try to get some pics tried today but the angle I was at blurred them and couldn't see crap.

While patiently waiting for the new frame to arrive and today being sunny and warmer than it has been I decided to look under the truck and check the frame out out and maybe give it a good wash to remove excess road grime and crud. Well started back at the rear axle and all the coating is coming off and a whole shit ton of rust on the frame looks bad near the muffler then I looked up front and got to the converter and had a WTF moment. Called the dealership and took it back in for an inspection. This is what I saw. And now the truck is at the dealership and I have a Camry to drive.

Also the same location near the other catalytic converter is bubling. The service guy at the dealership couldn't believe in just two months the whole got that big.

One of my coworkers was a Toyota tech until about 6 months ago. Being in New England they did lots of frame jobs. When my 5100's came in a few weeks ago he looked at them and said he installed lots of them when doing frame jobs. They don't take months to do either. Usually a week or two. Most dealers i've talked to around here seem to put 2 techs on them at a time.

Truck is a 2006 the dealer said two techs about 3-4 days kind of depends on any additional work I want done. Timing belt, water pump, they had 5 frames outside the garage, but I will guess none are double cab. Don't know if there is a difference between them or not. Either way it's an 06 cab on a 14 or 15 frame .

Mine took literally a day, day and a half, to do. I dropped it off one morning, the next day I got a call saying it would be ready, if I wanted to pick it up, that night. The wait for the frame took four and half months or so; after initially being told 6-8 weeks.

Thanks, guess I got about two more months to go. did you have any other work done to yours while in the shop. I figure I've got 98k on mine so now would be good time for water pump, timing belt serpentine belt plugs and figure out what the popping is. I think the top plates on the shocks are wallowed and the needle pin bearing front left axle are bad. So a few fixes need to be done.

I didn't; which is probably why it was done so quick. I didn't have any surprise parts that needed replacing, outside a simple exhaust gasket, and a lincense plate bulb.

LOL, I have had the license plate bulb burned out for three years, inspection never caught and I keep forgetting to replace it. The only thing that needs to be done really is the needle bearing I believe, the other stuff is recommended and I think is a good recommendation with mileage and its original parts.
