Put the Harrop Elocker in on friday! I was going to do the bushing but. If you go with the Harrop Elocker. It has bushings for both sides. So now needle bearing gone. Front Elocker. And have the stock Rear Elocker. And NO VIBRATION!

That's badass! I'd love to have one. It is pricey but if you went with an ARB and compressor your in the same ballpark. Do some field testing and report back. I'm interested. If I didn't have ATRAC I'd get it for sure.

What parts does everyone get besides the bushing. I see ecgs sells a seal with the bushing, but also saw other seals mentioned kenpachi's thread. I have read various posts in this thread and it seems like a good idea to replace the cv axle because I know there is wear there and I don't want the new bushing torn up. Kinda lost here on parts to get. Also wondered if anyone here had the removal tool they would be willing to rent out or sell?

all i did was the bushing.

the seal was fine as was the CV, as the truck only had about 9k miles on her only 400 of which it was lifted and the vibration presented itself.

    Hi guys -
I'm out shopping for a used (not lifted) Taco. Just joined the site to learn all I can before buying something.

I found this thread and hoping I'd be ok given I'd buy something not lifted but sounds like stock trucks can have this issue.

Question - when checking for play, am I trying to slid the axle in and out or up and down?

I'm fairly mechanical as I've maintained my 80 series cruiser for years and learned on other forums.

Also is there a thread that covers what to look for in used trucks?

Installed the ECGS bushing about a month ago and so far no issues. Be careful when using the needle bearing removal tool--while tapping the threaded insert into place I broke a small piece of the back lip of the stock needle bearing off. Needle bearing was pulled out fine but I spent the better part of an hour fishing the small piece out from under the spider gear with a dental pick. Not sure a piece that small would have affected anything, but I'm anal.

SOLD Regardless, I have the ECGS removal tool for sale--$45 shipped to you. Saves you $15 plus shipping. PM me if interested. SOLD

I finally did this! I was a little apprehensive because I've put 35k mi on it since the lift so I thought I may need a new CVJ. I had a bad brake judder every time I touched the brakes over 50 mph, and I needed to change the diff oils. I had all day so I went for it. Ahhh! no more diff vibe and I don't cringe when I hit the brakes at speed LOL.
I took some pics just for anyone who's on the fence about it. Here's a brief write up on how I did it:

Freeing the hub by removing the 2 LCA bolts
    IMG_2638%20copy_zpsetlpqqha_aa7958d3b7aaf6c2e4cefd23d8d72bad6e22462f.jpg

I removed the calipers because I wanted to resurface the rotors but you don't have to. Don't forget to disconnect the ABS sensor if you do this.

After prying on the CV with a small prybar I got pissed and got out the big ass crow bar! Guess what it popped right out!

Thankfully the shaft looked good! No scoring Yea

Hard to tell but the seal is tweaked on the bottom wrestling the shaft out with everything connected to it. Make sure you have a new seal. Glad I did.

Don't forget to stuff something in there before putting the tool in.

tool ready. Make sure you get it seated and centered before cranking on it. Thanks to Shane (Mach375) for the removal tool.

The bushing fit on there nicely but has a little more slop than I expected.

This was a PITA with everything in there. I had a heck of a time seating the bushing because there was no room to swing the hammer. Like 2 in. so it took a long time here.

After draining the rear diff. I started draining the TC but the oil looked like new so I just topped it off. Put the brakes back together and the truck is back in order many hours later.

Here's what's left. You can see the bearing got a little tweaked when removing and also the seal.

So I just installed 5100s with 885 coils. About 2.5" of lift and now I have a bit of vibrations. I plan on ordering and installing the ECGS bushing, but probably not for a couple months. I'm in central Canada and winter is still damn cold. I'm curious if anyone on here would be willing to rent me the needle bearing tool? I'm pretty sure this is a one time use tool that I would have no use for after this job. I would be willing to pay shipping back and forth and a fair rental fee. PM me if you have the tool available and if you'd be willing. Alternatively, if you're looking to sell your tool for a reasonable price, let me know. Might go that way if shipping back and forth would cost me the same.

Thanks in advance for any help guys!

I just picked up an '07 Tacoma with roughly 88,000km on the clock, and I have noticed that occasionally I will get little 'grinding' sensations that are both audible and noticeable through the floor/pedals of the vehicle. They only last a second or two, max. Although I also experience a low-frequency humming at speeds of 100km/h or greater. I think this may be the early onset of the same problem.

Do you guys think that it would make sense to fix the bushing prior to installing a lift, or to wait and see what sort of effect a lift might have? I'm thinking that I might even just do it all at once once all this snow melts and I can feel my fingers and toes again outside - we shall see!
