couldnt get my t case to disengage front drive shaft so I pulled the actuator off to expose the shift shaft and try and manually shift into 2hi

according to some other posts i thought there's supposed to be three positions.
    pushed in=2hi, middle = 4 hi and pulled out = 4 lo.

I can only get mine to move 2 positions: 4hi and 4lo. I verified by putting it on stands and watching the drive shafts with the shift shaft in the 2 positions.

anybody help a brutha out on this one?.. it'd be much appreciated
dont want to keep on driving around with my front drive shaft spinning, i'm guessing that's not good.

The actuator (push button) will engage 2hi to 4hi via the actuator motor. Then the shift knob is 4hi to 4lo once engaged. This is on the 2-4 select shifter system.

the push button was disengaged (not pushed in) and 4wd light not lit on the dash so I was assuming it should've been in 2hi
next i looked at the driveshafts with the truck on jack stands and both front and rear driveshafts were turning, but the front wheels werent spinning...so I figured the tcase actuator was bad (stuck in 4hi). I pulled the actuator to try and manually shift into 2 hi but no go.

username suggested the tcase is prob. bound up. I'm assuming in 2hi your front driveshaft isn't supposed to be spinning,(maybe I'm wrong?)

If you got any more ideas tho, I'd be happy to hear them. thanks

You can verify the operation of the actuator by connecting 12 volts to specific pins in the actuator connector. Once disconnected at the actuator and looking at the pins numbered as follows, upper R is pin 1, upper middle is pin 2, upper left is pin 3. Connect positive to pin 2, and negative to pin 3 this will shift into 2wd. Then positive to pin 3 and negative to pin 2 will shft into 4wd . I use a small 12v battery from my grand daughters electric jeep. If it will shift in and out, then it might be your 4wd computer or wiring. If no shift the actuator is bad. Good Luck.
