I was not battering anyone. I may have chosen the wrong words expressing my opinion. I edited that. But a mod deleting my post because he did not like my response to his telling me I should leave TW is over the top.

    A very big engine. .
Most of my engines hold between 5 and 30 gallons.

I didn't tell you to leave TW. It was a comment in general to the people who feel compelled to bash everyone for any mod they do, which your post fell into that category until you edited it.

I would bet the hold a bunch. I work on a lot of Big Caterpillar engines. 3412'S hold a lot of oil with 2 oil filters that hold 5 gallons alone.

Our 2,200 HP Cat diesel that ran the generator at the jail, locomotive engines etc. A sample was pulled tested and then a decision was made on when to change it.

Well, that is representative of what the engine sees, correct? The oil pump is not using mid-level oil, it is using what is nearest the bottom at the sump.

OP, truck on, forget the naysayers

its all good boys!, was looking at a cummins ISX on a concrete mixer truck today, had similar valve located in identical place, Cummins must think its a good spot to pull from as oil has gone threw the filter and this is the oil the engine sees or gets first, maybe a goofy idea for a Tacoma, just wanted a good reliable sample point, that should eliminate human error or dirty sample tubing, so far no leaks, also now have two extra ports for oil pressure and or oil temp, the speed at pulling a sample is awesome

No oil is filtered before it goes to any bearings, piston cooling jets, rockers, lifters, turbos and so on.
Now some older diesel engines like the Volvo TAMD41 Did not filter the piston cooling jets and they would plug up with debris and cause pistons to seize. But they changed that with the new style filter base.
