i'll make one hell of a grampa some day, cruising at 45 on the highway in my caddy.

 

parts list off the top of my head:
- 2x gasoline fuel pumps w/ filters
- small diameter rubber fuel hose (connects to tank and pumps)
- large diameter rubber hose (ties into stock filler line)
- 2x off-the-shelf copper tee ( 1 splits the small diameter line into two for each pump, 1 combines lines back together after pumps)
- home made copper tee (splices large line into stock filler line)
- assorted stainless hose clamps for all connections (pumps came with their own)
- auxiliary fuel tank
- securing/tie-down method of your choice for tank
- connectors/wire/switch/fuse/etc for powering pumps.

I haven't worked on it since I first installed the tank, but I am still working on the best way to make a remote filling port for the tank.

 

that covers the easy part lol. a fitting on the other hand is a little tougher to come by that you can install in an injection molded tank. they are all made for fuel cells that unbolt into pieces, with an internal bladder.

I may have to go with a different tank configuration, I don't have that much space in between the wheel wells in the short bed.

 

Colin has a shortbed as well. That tank slid in perfectly between the wheel wells.

anyone have a good driveshaft shop that they'd recommend? I haven't had any luck finding somewhere local to re-tube my busted driveshaft, so I figure I might as well just find a place to ship it to.

not looking for anything crazy, just somewhere I can ship it to, have it rebuilt, and get it back a few weeks later. probably just stock wall thickness re-tube, new u-joints, and a good balance. carrier bearing on it is only a few thousand miles old so no need to redo that.

 

im still trying to find a place to source a spare from! there was a place in birmingham that retubed mine and was fantastic as well as extremely quick (2hrs from drop off to phone call for ready) they were a big truck shop, like tractor trailer, and i will try to find the name. dont know if they would partake in the shipping back and forth aspect though??

Place in Kansas that I had rebuild one was a big rig shop as well. They did a great job, but it was only u-joints and the carrier bearing. No welding involved.

 

mine was just a retube. no ujoints or annything else. truck only had about 12 or 15k miles on it. but seems dead on balance and has done me very well since and ive got over 50k on the truck now.

 

Just had mine done at Randy's Driveshafts here in Houston. New u-joints, carrier bearing, rear flange, and re-tubed rear section. Wasn't a cheap fix.

 

I can do u-joints myself, and the ones in it are good and pretty new, but I figure for a few extra bucks, why not have someone else toss some brand spanking new hardware in it for zero effort on my part. but if they can only re-tube and balance, that's all I really need.

 

Pretty sure I remember Ant saying he had a place to get his dine at that was good... Or he had gotten it done... Shits a blur after basic but I recall something about him getting it retubed
