So I am just wondering. Would an MAF and air box from a 98+ tacoma work on my 97? The previous owner had a bullshit air filter on there instead of the factory one and it has destroyed the MAF. It's about the same price to get the air box and the newer style MAF as it is just for the MAF for a 97.

go to rockauto.com and look up your part number then look up the other part number to be sure they are the same.

Yes I tried cleaning it but that didn't help. The part numbers are not the same. I'm just wondering if it will work because otherwise i have to spend twice as much to get a stock airbox and the MAF for a 97. I can get the airbox and MAF for a 98 for the same price as just the MAF for a 97. So I was wondering since its still the same engine if the newer parts would work with my truck.

these things are not like spark plugs, close enough is NOT close enough.

if the part numbers are different then it wont work, that thing sends a signal to your engines computer and if its not the right signal for your computer then the truck wont run right.

get the part number made for your truck (unless of course if the old part is no longer made or available and so the other number is an OEM listed updated replacement part for your truck)
