New Taco owner in N. Texas, just wanted to say hello. Recently got a 2015 PreRunner double cab V6 2x4 "TSS Edition" automatic. There's a mouthful.

I was camping with my three little boys a couple weekends ago, and it began to rain as I was cramming all our gear into the family SUV (Pathfinder)... and I thought for the hundredth time how convenient it would be to have a pickup. Got home grouchy and Mrs. Awesome Wife said to just get a truck already. So I did!

It's going to be a daily commuter and weekend camping/biking/Home Depot mule, and my commute has recently decreased from 25 to 9 miles each way, so fuel cost is not a big deal any more. Given the typical weather, the 2x4 is adequate. Of course we had a rare two days of snow the day after I bought it, but 2x4 will be just fine 99.5% of the time, and it really wasn't as squirrely as I expected in the snow. Better than our old 2WD GMC Yukon ever was.

I was thinking I'd like a blue over tan SR5, but the nearest dealer make a great deal (last weekend of the month, they were pretty motivated), and I decided the "mica"/brown color was pretty cool, as are the upgraded TSS wheels and running boards. It lacks a few of the luxuries I had in the Accord I traded, but it has everything I need (Bluetooth and backup camera were my bare minimum requirements). The entune Plus stereo is impressive. It rides surprisingly well for a truck, even on the meatier tires, which actually have a higher tread wear rating than the base tires. Back seat has plenty of room for kids, and the boys think it's awesome.

Also considered Nissan Frontier, and almost got a new 2014 SV which they were making a killer deal on, but I just preferred the ride and handling of the Tacoma, and the interior materials are a bit nicer.

So, here are a couple of pics. Looking forward to being a part of this forum, it appears to be really active and knowledgeable.
