2 years ago I bought another Husqvarna to go with my 20 year old 51. I bought the 455 Rancher with the autotune feature. That thing would be tough to start and keep going. No power either. My smaller 51 ate the larger 455 for lunch. I took it back and they hooked it up to the computer (yes it does that) and found the whole carb and autotune computer was junk. I got a new carb under warranty along with a gallon of bar oil, a cool hat, and an apology from the shop. This fall I took it firewood hunting and it was a whole different machine. It ripped through wood like butter.

Yesterday I took it out after sitting for 8 months to cut down a tree. It started and kept running on the 2nd pull. I'm way impressed with the autotune. It had old gas with staybul still in the tank.

Husqvarna 142. Just a light, homeowner use saw that I've used for everything for the last seven years. It is definitely too small for some of the work I've done with it, but as long as I keep the chain sharp it will work through anything I've thrown at it. It's especially good for in-tree-limbing. It'll start on the third pull even after sitting for 6+ months.

I have a stihl 036 magnum and a dolmar 5150... The dolmar came after a two year old stihl farmboss couldn't be repaired. My dealer and I had a falling out after 20years of loyalty to him. The fuel supposedly destroyed the carb beyond repair. I don't use ethanol, but he swears I did. Needless to say the dolmar is a screamer. It is made in west germany. So far I am very impressed. My trusty 036 is still my work horse, but I really like the dolmar.

I run a small Stihl MS-170 for general storm cleanup and limbing and use a new MS 261-CM with the M-tronic system for felling and larger trees. The newer electronic carbs are great in my opinion, they seem to run well no matter the temp or humidity.

My grandparent's house is finally in escrow years after their passing. While cleaning out the property prepping it for sale, I ended up with my grandpa's never used Stihl 044 with 32 inch bar, shown next to my Husky with 16 inch bar.

No, but his ranch had hundreds of cottonwood trees, some hundreds of years old and 6+ feet diameter at breast height. In the 35 years of living there, he never had to leave his property for firewood.

Hey all, sold all my chainsaws 15 years ago when I moved to town. Quick question, have they ever got around to making one that runs on pure gas only?

It can be if poor tree health before it comes down. However, an otherwise healthy tree that is harvested still green then split and seasoned is perfectly good. They burned it exclusively in two wood stoves through brutally cold Colorado winters.

Huh , I guess my only experience with it is with trees that have come down and were super high moisture content and kinda spongey

Just picked up a new Echo CS-400. Needed a saw to cut down some of the oversized sagebrush on my property.
