This is the fourth time this is happening to me. It has been to the clinic once with this issue and they certified it as “non-reproducible” and “all components working as expected”.
Symptoms: When getting off highways(off ramps and also sharp turns at speed), the trucks seems to lock up(in front) and grind(like metal shaft grinding) for a split second and it feels like I do not have steering at that time. The first time it happened I almost went into the ditch. The second time it was raining and I slowly applied brakes and I still could hear tires screeching. The third and fourth time where no different. It is because I’m making hard turns? Is it the ABS that is kicking in even though I’m not applying brakes? Also, what is that grinding noise? I have 7K miles on the truck and had this issue four times so far.

I'm guessing your VSC tried to correct and straightening out the car during those hard turns. The grinding noise you described could be just the ABS working. Have you used the Hill Descent function on the truck? It sounds like grinding or cable about to snap.

You can ask the dealer to recalibrate the VSC sensors I believe. It's a lifted truck, maybe they just forgot to calibrate it at the factory.

Just my guess. Not a mechanic. :)

Thanks! I actually did not even know that I had descent feature. I will talk to dealer about VSC recalibration.
