I have a 2009 taco Dbl Cab long bed and I just purchased the Rough Country 3" lift. I want to put some 285-70-17 on but I here conflicting stories of the 285 not working well. I don't mind a little of trimming, but would rather not be hacking away half the truck. I am using the stock rims. if its to much of a mod., then I guess I will use the stock 265-70-17 size.

If you're keeping stock rims you'll need to buy some wheel spacers like spider traxs 1.25 inch spacers. Other then that depending on your alignment you'll get away with some minor trimming at the bottom back of the fender flare and if you have mud flaps you'll have to lose those as well. I ran 285/70/17 duratracs on stock sport 17's for a while and that's all I had to do.
