I recently replaced both headlight bulbs on my '08 with standard bulbs. One light was burnt out, so I thought I might as well put two new ones in.

I just noticed one bulb (the passenger side) is much brighter when they are both on low beam, and when on bright they are the same intensity. Any suggestions? Electrical is not my forte, but could this be a fuse? It almost seems the passenger side is "stuck" on bright...

    Thanks in advance.

Did you buy single pack bulbs or a dual pack of bulbs

I bought 2 packs, but I'm certain the part # was the same. Are you thinking one was the wrong bulb?

I don't know if it makes a difference one bulb could have just been sitting on the shelf for a while. They are both the correct bulb number correct?

As far as I know. They were in identical packaging (#s too), but it has been a month or so and I've already discarded the containers. I don't know which is the correct intensity, but I suspect the passenger side is off as it is almost blinding on low.

Perhaps I should just change that one again and see what happens.

Yes do you have other bulbs to switch out to, to see if there is a difference?

No, I'll have to buy one (should have kept a spare!). It is sort of a PITA to get to as I have to remove the windshield washer reservoir to get my hand in there. I'll start with a replacement this weekend.

Take the bright bulb out and swap it to the other head light to see if it's still brighter than the other.

Now you're talking. Thanks for the suggestion. Old age is eliminating any pragmatism I had left.

Lol it happens. Doing that you can at least see if its the bulb or wiring/fuse related on one headlight side.

could be corrosion in the bulb connector as well, limiting the current to the dimmer bulb. Also aim of the headlights may make one headlight seem brighter when just looking at it if it's aim is way off compared to the other.

Thanks everyone. I had them adjusted at the dealership when I added 5100s up front and haven't touched the adjustment since. Perhaps this was an ongoing issue, but it was only reported to me (twice) the first week I replaced the bulbs...I'll report back.

    Thanks again guys.

Turns out the dim bulb is me. I finally took a look yesterday and I must have knocked loose the wire clamp that secures the bulb when I reinstalled the rubber boot. The bulb was just not secure so it was at an angle and, therefore, shining brighter.
