This is very true. I remember being 12 years old when my Mom was shopping for a new car and I knew more specs than the sales guy. I remember correcting him at one point and he got a little embarrassed. You are more likely to get better information on this forum.

It's not like it's their job to know something(anything) about the things they sell to make a living  There's no defense either unless it's some used car lot schmuck with 20 different types of vehicles on the lot. It's very reasonable for a salesman to know the entire Toyota lineup and most of what each trim includes. It's just not reality.

"I want a Tacoma that comes with x and x, so I'm pretty sure that will narrow my search to this particular trim level"

Answer: "Yeah, I mean, yeah, that's probably about right. Let me show you this new Highlander we have on the lot for $6,000 over your budget with nothing you requested and most certainly isn't a Tacoma"

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
    Or in my case
    "they don't make a manual"
"here look at this rav4 we can get a great deal"
"check out this tundra it has everything the Tacoma does"
"they wont be making a Baja model for 2013"
"I found exactly the truck you asked about, heres a quote!" never mind its the wrong color, with an automatic"
"We will have to special order a TRD Pro to have the offroad package" wow
"so glad we can help you"
"the charge port on the alternator was bad' WTF?

You know, I've never had a salesman try to steer me to something other than what I came in to see. Of course, I let it be known very quickly what I'm wanting on the car or truck I'm looking at. What I have noticed is that they know a lot more about financing and rebates than they do about the mechanical aspect of the car.

So I know most people are done talking about this, but this profile pic from the Toyota website really shows how different the rear windows look. The uptick on the 2016 is much more dramatic.

Why does it need to be different? Do you not like how it is now? Panels don't add to the performance of the truck, the drivetrain does, which is all new. The exteriors job is to look good. Not change every 5 years. Any smaller and it won't tow very well and any bigger and it won't be a midsize trail truck anymore. What is it you want from Toyota?

If the combined MPGs are 5 over and the claims of 50-60hp more are true I'll be selling my '14 for one....I mostly just want an excuse to get back in a manual but it's funny how good the MPG argument works with the wife.

Why do people get mad. It's nice knowing I can keep my truck for over 10 years and still look like the new model.

Some people are like that unfortunately...

At first I was upset that the new Taco did not look more different from the gen 2 than it actually does. I am over that now, I think most people are. The truth is for being a 10 year-old truck, the Tacoma has aged about as well as any truck can in 10 years. Still looks real good. Toyota did a lot of customer surveys and concluded most buyers did not want the new Tacoma to look dramatically different because it looks great already.
I would love a manual in my new Tacoma, but I really want a DCLB and I highly doubt a manual will be offered on the DCLB because you cannot get a stick on the current DCLB. First world problems...
