    OME 3" lift MK6 wheels 285 Fierce MTs & 4.88s!!
So, is it possible to run a small spacer on top of coilovers (like 1/4-1/2") so you can get a full 3" of lift without preloading the coils too much?? Would this be a terrible idea?

I read a post by the Icon rep about how they design the travel for the shock to be without a spacer so if you add one the shock will be traveling more than it was designed for for your application (normal or extended travel) and could be damaging.

The problem with spacers only comes into play with the compression stroke. When you add a spacer you effectively push the CO down but the suspension itself it still capable of traveling or compressing back to its upper limit which can be past the point of which the CO is able to compress too which will bottom out the CO. The only way you could safely do it would be to add that same spacer distance to your bump stop to prevent the CO from bottoming out.
