    Hi,

I have a 2010 Double Cab TRD. The original battery has started to give me problems this winter. I decided to do some research and found Costco have really high quality batteries. I went to my local Costco and found my truck requires a 27F. The local Costco does not carry it. They have a 24F which is 1/4 wider. The cold cranking amps are 700CCA, wheras the factory one is 710CCA. I have heard it should fit, but I'm concerned it won't.

I also heard the yellow top Optima battery will work but I need to make some changes with the connecting cables to make it work.

Can anyone provide any advise on this issue?

    Thanks

The difference between 700 CCA and 710 CCA is negligible, especially if you operate your vehicle in temperature above 0 degrees F. The Reserve Capacity is normally less for a 24F than a 27F, but that can vary with the manufacturer's battery line. The terminal location and polarity is the same on a 24F and 27F. You should not have any difficulty dealing with the extra 1/4" wider case.

For some tips on purchasing a replacement battery, please see Section 7 in the Car and Deep Cycle Battery FAQ on www.batteryfaq.org.
