Does a 5fvze TPS need to be calibrated/adjusted?

    98 Tacoma V6 3.4, TRD 4x4 5-speed 100k miles
    So I got a bad TPS (according to CEL and associated symptoms). I'm gonna replace it. I've watched videos of folks adjusting the TPS on second gen tacos, but on my truck the TPS doesnt have the long screw holes, so I am wondering how to adjust the TPS on installation, or if it even needs to be done.

    I asked my local mechanic and he said that the TPS on first gens is "plug and play", meaning no adjustment needed, just install and roll.

    What do y'all say? Thanks!

    There are 2 types, if there are no "slots" it is plug and play.

    The early years, thru or to mid 98 also have slots for "adjustment", 99 up to ETC are plug and play . The later electronic throttle control systems are a whole other ball game.

    Thanks for the replies, y'all. FYI, dirty pool, mine is a 98 but it definitely doesn't have adjustment slots.

    The change must have been mid 98 then and your on the good side.:thumbsup:
