    G'day all,
Got a question about front strut replacement on a 2nd gen 2011 Tacoma dc 4x4 Off Road. While I'm no strange to auto macainics, and I've replaced strut/spring assys on 2004 and older Tacoma 4wd trucks I find there's a little more to the more current Tacoma's.

The "how to do it" post are great and full of attention to detail for the most part and I appreciate all the time and effort it take to produce a "here's how to do it" thread. I watched the youtube videos and the area that seems to get only slightly covered is loosening the a-frame attachmenmt nuts and cams for added downward movement.

Just how much does the lower a-frame attachment nuts need to be loosened to get the additional downward movement to remove the shock and spring assy;, sloppy lose, finger lose or just lose enough to get the a-frame to move in the downward direction?

I'm to the point where the only thing attached to the lower a-frame is the shock. The Three nuts that hold the top on the strut are removed. The two large front lower ball joint attachment bolts are removed.

    Suggestions appreciated, thanks.

    Bob

I loosened them enough to allow the adjustment cams to clear the tabs. Index them before you do this so you can re-install in the same positions. No prying on them necessary using this method.
