My wife and I went there yesterday. It was the final day of the Terra Del Sol Jeep meet. A huge affair with every imaginable type of ORV. We took the crossover trail from S22 down to the 78 and our Tacoma ACcess Cab 4x4 did great. There are lots of ease to moderate trails and a lot of sandy washes. We even took our 2 wd 4 runner out there a few years ago and had a blast.

Sandstone Canyon/Fish Creek Wash is a great starting point.

Depending on your off-roading experience/willingness to damage your rig, the options in this area of the desert are limitless.

Truckhaven Hills is great (as the poster above testified), although most of the trails there can be tougher on longer wheel based vehicles.

If you venture north of Highway 78 in OWSVRA, be sure to get a map at the ranger station before Main Street. Then...check out The Pumpkin Patch. Another "must see" Ocotillo Wells hot spot.

On your way home...stop at Carlee's restaurant in Borrego Springs...you won't be sad. Great food and service, and sometimes a pretty cool little band plays...honky tonk style. Ask for David or Zane...great bartenders.

Good luck and happy trail hunting...hit me up with a PM if you need any other information...been hitting these areas since I was a kid...1975-ish.
