I'll be heading over to headstrong to pick up their Coil/Bilstein 5100 lift Kit (part # HS05BK-1) and will be installing it probably the same day.

I am currently on 265/70/16 Duratracs and will probably keep those on there until they're dead, at which point, was thinking about going 285, but am hesitant on trimming.

Just wondering if 265's really look "that bad" or if I could live with it. So show me pics of your lifted trucks on 265's and help me decide

I was talking with a guy who went from 265s to 285s. We were comparing mileage. I don't know if mileage is a concern for you but he said he was gettign 13-15 mpg since puttign on 285s. he said his tank range was 270-315miles. I'm on 265s and getting 350-417 mile range to a tank. Personally, I would avoid 285s unless you use them for serious offroading only. I have 265/65r17 and plan to switch to a 265/75r16. Pick a tire with a slightly aggressive sidewall and tread pattern and it will look fine. I'v been snooping this forum, google and other forums for the past 10 weeks. I am convinced 285s are too much for a road truck.

My Headstrong lift shipped out today. I'm anxious to get it on soon and see how the 265/17s look. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the photos and the input.

The taco is really only driven on the weekends and for off roading. I use my motorcycle to commute to work everyday and only drive the taco to work when I'm either too lazy to gear up, or the weather sucks (I live in Southern California so its rare that the weather is too bad to ride.) Gas mileage is the least of my worries.

After seeing some of these images, I may stick with the 265's and just try to find a more aggressive tire as someone stated above. Thanks again guys, but keep those pictures coming! Maddaddy, post some pics after you get the lift installed!

I would say your friend is an heavy footed driver if he's getting 13-15 MPG because I now run 285/75/16 tires and average about 310 miles a tank at the E line which comes down to about 18.5 MPG mixed city/ highway. when I ran stock size tires I was averaging about 19 mixed city/highway so all in all i lost about half a mile a gallon.

The best mileage I got on 285s was driving to amarillo, TX with some hills here and there and I averaged about 21 all highway miles per gallon driving at about 75 the entire way

Tools and cap only add about 400-450lbs , no armour or anything beyond that
