He's talking about purchasing a 2015 and the discussion section lists the 2015 as a 2nd generation, what's your point?

Need more info to really answer this. Dealerships LOVE to play the three shells and a marble game. Shell #1 is the price of the truck. Shell #2 is the trade in (if any), Shell #3 is the finance, warranty, negative equity, monthly payment. We can change all of these to make you feel good about your purchase. I refuse to buy until I can turn over all three shells and confirm there was even a marble to begin with!!! ;)

I paid 29.5k for my 2014 v6 AC 4x4 6spd sr5 with navigation. I figure they made about 2k off me between the truck and my trade in. Not having to deal with the young Craigslist wieners who would buy my old high-mileage German sports car was worth $2k to me, easily.

That price is high if you think it's high. I got my '14 DCSB Off-Road for just over 30K.

I paid $29,000 for mine, off of $30,100 and even that was an all day struggle. However, being in the Hampton Roads area doesn't help. Dealers know if you don't buy it the next guy will and probably at sticker price.

These trucks are pricey no doubt, but that's Toyota in general for you.

I have several friends who are in Toyota car sales. The dealers actually normally make more money off of your trade, financing, and extras than they make off the new car sale. Sales managers thrive on ignorance of the totality of the deal, trying to keep your focus on the new car price or payments. Last month the sales manager met my offer on the new truck but wanted to give me 12K on my trade in (2008 prerunner with 54K miles). I had done my homework and knew that he would need to put around 2K into new tires and fixing some dings in the bumpers to make it "cherry," and that these were listing at 19K and sellng for around $18K. That would leave him making around $1000 on the new car but and easy $4000 on my trade in, and used Tacos with 54K miles move fast.. He screamed and complained that I was still asking too much at 14K for my trade in but accepted the deal. FYI he actually listed in at $19,900. Also, I took NONE of the extra add ons, which are hugely profitable for them as well. I can spray upholstery protection on myself. Knowledge and willingness to walk is power.

FYI the reason I traded in the prerunner is that I sold my 4x4 SUV and wanted a 4x4 Tacoma as it will now be my main vehicle.

Thanks, Goalie. That helps. Marion, IL is a relatively small town, but I'm not afraid to head to Paducah, KY or Evansville, IN if I can get a better deal!
