Maxtrac Spindles Bilstein 5100s OME 885 coils 1.5" Deaver AAL 2" Block Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx 295/70R18
Hello all. I've been following TacomaWorld for some time now but never made an account until now. I have a 2005 PreRunner DCLB and just got a few things installed over the weekend. It currently has Maxtrac spindles, OME 885 coils, and Bilstein 5100s. As for the back it has the stock leaf springs, 1.5" Deaver AAL, 2" block. I also got new tires which are Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx size 295/70r18. The spindles and block were done a year ago and figured it was time for a new look so that's when I decided to get new tires and the Bilsteins and coils. When I got it installed, they didn't think I'd clear the tires so the dealer set the Bilsteins at 2.5"(which I know most, if not all of you guys agree is a no-go). The issue I noticed was that my UCA(which is stock) hits against my coil. There's about less than a half a cm between the UCA and coil so when I go over any slight bump I hear it bang against each other. I called dealer that installed the lift and they agreed to lower them and align for no extra fee. I'm wondering what setting you guys recommend I should set my Bilsteins to. I was hoping for .85" but I'm not sure if I'll clear the tires so next would be 1.75". I don't mind trimming a bit of the front bumper as well. I would really appreciate it if I could get some of your guys' opinion on what I should do.

I am almost certain that you should not set the billies with OME coils with any setting but 0. at max those who run the billies with Eibach coils set them at .85 but OME coil should only be set at 0 at least thats what I've read.

Do you think I'd be able to clear my current tires then if I set them at 0? I remember YotaMatt had OME with bilsteins at 0 but I believe he had wheel spacers

That's what I have read on here as well, also what I was told by headstrong offroad when I ordered my 887 coils. Bilstein's at 0 with OME coils.

Is there any way you could just do some trimming to fit them?

I ordered all the parts from them and they said they don't recommend going over .85" which is what I'm going to aim for. I don't mind trimming if it fixes the issue. I'd rather do some trimming than completely mess up my suspension

When I ordered my billies and OME coils I asked about the height setting, this is what Marie from Headstrong OR said:

"It is always best to set the Bilstein's at zero if you can and achieve lift from the coils. If you have the Bilsteins set at another other setting other then zero you are preloading the shock and the higher you move the ring up to adjust them the more preload they have and more they are preloaded the stiffer the ride will be. Essentially the higher you adjust the Bilsteins the stiffer the ride becomes."

Yeah I noticed that. My ride is hell of a lot stiffer than what it used to be. Do you happen to know how much the OME coils lift? I know I get roughly 4" with spindles plus the 2.5" from the bilsteins

I don't know much about the billies as I am running the OME strut/coil combo but yes you get the lift from the coil. I have about 2.5 inches of lift on 285/75/16 tires and I had to do some trimming as I was rubbing the inner fender liner at the front. what is the backspacing on your wheels?

From how it looks you are maxing out your UCA with too much lift at the coilovers. I would back those 5100 down to somewhere in the 1.5" inch range and you should clear those tires just fine. The coils you have already yield a lift without raising the 5100's than on top of that you maxed out the 5100 your probably getting 4" from the spindle and 3.25" from your coilover set up and NEVER EVER should you go over 3" on your suspension it will ride like crap and max your UCAs.

I understand. So do you recommend I go to the 1.75" setting or .85" setting on the bilsteins?

I'm not sure honestly. The wheels are 18x9 Gear rims http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007MEZ8X6/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/178-9858535-2868703

Switch to .85 at the least. The brolean looks awful and you really should just be running 0" with 885s

I just want to thank everyone who replied back. Took the truck to get it lowered. The bilsteins were set at 0 & the "clunk" noise went away. Truck is practically level now & rides a lot better. Tires rub slightly so Ill probably do some trimming. Other than that it's all good. Thanks again guys
