Does that just sit in the cubby or is it bolted down in there? I've been trying to figure a good place to put one and have yet to come up with something. I don't particularly like having it on the windshield but not sure where else I could mount it.

Anyone else have any info on where you've placed them?

It technically just sits in the cubby.......under the ABS plastic and surrounding the scangauge I put foam rubber (the kind you buy at Wal-Mart and used spray adhesive to keep it in place...nothing fancy); I did this to weigh it down and it doesn't move at all. The ABS plastic "DIN" that I made fits pretty snug too.

The 24 MPG was during the week after Christmas and the roads weren't busy and I haven't seen that since but I see 21/22 regularly though.

Something with how the iPhone's commuinate via Bluetooth. Androids can do it, but the iOS stuff only works via wifi. Beats me...

Scangauge with the blend mount over the rear view mirror for me. All of it was a Christmas present from the wife. Buttons on the front and trans temp were the selling points for me. works great. I did not like the Ultra gauge only because the buttons were on the back.

Scanguage for me, Transmission temp was the reason but I've had fun adding other xgauges and monitoring what the ecu can see. Now I run one in my wife's subaru too.

I bought my ultragauge 1 back with my previous car when I needed to monitor different parameters. With the Tacoma it is a luxury but if given the choice now I would go with the scangauge. Lower profile and colors match factory interior.

I saw the write up on the ScanGauge with the blend mount over the rear view Tomtwo. I'm not sure if that was you who did it or not but that is a pretty sweet setup. Nice clean install.

Ultra..I just Velcro'd it to the steering column and ran the wire down past the column. Not all hidden but easily removable if I use it to scan another car.

I've searched I promise lol. Where can I find out how to display the trans temp on the sc 2? It's not in the pre programmed menus from what I can see.

I have a 2008 Tacoma and have also tried many codes to get my trans temp to show on my scan gauge and have had no luck ….

What codes are you guys using to get your trans temps on the scan gauge 2 ???

I've got a scangauge that I mounted to the headliner in the upper left corner of my windshield. I like how much lower profile it is and that you can adjust the color of the display to match the colors of the dash lights. Most people think it's OEM in my truck, I'm not a big fan of the GPS like appearance of the ultragauge. I also went scangauge because I wanted transmission temp which wasn't available for the ultragauge at the time but I hear it's been added now.

It seems everyone is happy with their scan gauge. Ive never used one so i cant attest to that.

I do have an UG though, and have been more than happy. One thing to think about, i can display 8 gauges on the UG screen, so accessing the buttons may not be an issue. Mine is a windshield mount, so i can access the buttons anyway. I usually monitor about 12-14 gauges, and i can flip back and forth between 2 pages with one button. On a side note, my mileage has gone up almost 2 MPG's since i bought it as i adjust my driving habits.

    Hope this info helps

If you order the new UG MX it comes pre-set for Tacoma (or whatever truck you select in the ordering process), including trans temp. It's a bit more, but still under $100. I paid $103 with shipping and a window mount. I'll get it in a couple of days, and report back. There was another thread that was largely pro-UG though this thread is largely pro Scan Gauge. I liked the UG ability to see several values at once, which negates (in my mind) the need to have the buttons on the front. I want to look at engine temp, trans temp, instataneous mileage and distance to empty.
