Hey, new member here but been trolling for 2yrs now. Got a question regarding my scheduled maintenance requirements. I bought a brand new 2013 Tacoma TRD Sport, my truck is 2yrs old and currently have 11,000km's not miles on it. My service dept recently told me my next appointment is a big one, I said pardon; apparently fluids and spark plugs need to be changed on my expense due to THERE rules. That seems like a big expense for a truck with 11km's on it. I have only owned Fords, my last F150 FX4 bought new had 88,000km's when I sold it and it was running without a glitch, only oil changes. This truck is a second vehicle, not my everyday driver. Has anyone else every faced the same problem? Recommended spark plug change is 48,000km which is still IMO a money grab. I'm not impressed with these money grabs, can see my Tacoma being left on a Ford lot by week ends...

Sounds like crossed wires in communication somewhere maybe, sounds too insane to be true.

But if not... "their rules"? So what? If that really is their crazy rule at their shop, just go somewhere else. What are they going to do? Don't see it being an issue to get rid of your truck over.

Check your owners manual. What's does it say? Do the plugs yourself if you are going to pay.

Well that's what in Tacoma's owners manual, big service due at 36months or 48,000km's. Every truck I have ever owned this service was at 100,000km's. Just seems like a huge $$ for a truck I put 5000km's/year. No vehicle needs plugs and fluids flushed with 11,000km's on the engine, no towing, no off roading etc.

    Great write up! Thanks,

But does anyone feel these plugs should be still changed with 11,000km's?
