I took delivery of my Prinsu rack and installed it last month on my '15 Access Cab Off Road. Access cabs lack factory bolts under the weather stripping, and so it is necessary to drill through the sheet metal and install plusnuts. The install went OK, and the rack is stout and good looking. No complaints regarding the rack itself.

When drilling the plusnut holes, I followed Zach's advice and started with smaller bits and worked my way up. Brand new heavy duty bits. Several times the drill grabbed the sheet metal and forcefully drove itself farther than necessary into the roof. I was actually worried that I might pierce the headliner, but that didn't happen. Got the holes drilled and the rack installed. Home free, right?

I noticed that the dome and map lights weren't working, so took it to the dealer this morning. They told me that whoever installed the rack (me...) drilled right into the wiring harness on the driver's side, and that IF they can repair the harness it will cost me $670. I don't even want to know what the tab will be if they have to replace that section of harness...

So, if you are going to install an Access Rack, you need to figure out a way to drill JUST FAR ENOUGH to get a smooth hole for the plusnut. Perhaps a step-drill would be the solution.

I love the rack, as does everyone else, but keep this issue in mind when installing.

With your skill set you could fix the harness yourself for under $10 and it would take an hour. This is good info nonetheless to anyone wanting to install the rack. Maybe the 15s had their harnesses moved?

Typically, not bashing, but any time I drill or cut, I look behind and make sure nothing is behind. While it could have been mentioned in instructions, I wouldn't let the stealership do it for 650+. An hour or two tops with some wire, shrink tube, and a soldering iron can save you serious cash.
