Need Advice On Replacing Driver Side Mirror

I have a 2003 Tacoma Xtra Cab base package and the driver side mirror has a big crack down the center. They are manual mirrors. Where can I get a replacement insert, I don't just want to replace the glass I want a whole new insert because the mechanism and holder is a little worn out too. Also how do I go about doing this, I know the inner mirror assembly pops out but I just don't want to break anything if I don't have to.

just go to the salvage yard and get a whole replacement unit, they screw on from the inside after you pop of that little triangle piece of trim molding.

Will a mirror from a pre-2000 first gen fit an '03? I know they made some body changes.

 

Yes but the older mirrors were swivel mounted with the glass non adjustable.

Best to replace with the same style you have.
