I was wondering if anyone knew of or had thought of a way to make the backuo camera useful when the tailgate is down. I wonder if there is some way to flip up the camera to be able to see when hauling somethibg that requires the gate to be down.........I might be the only crazy one :D

Maybe get a 2nd camera for the license plate? That's what I just installed on my Taco.

almost like a way to make that whole tailgate handle hinge open when the gate is down, that'd be neat

Yeah, i was thinking of something like that. I am going to dismantle the gate this weekend to see what possibilities there are to make this work.

I would think it would be hard to do. It would be easier like someone else said to just buy a license plate camera. I do use mine when I forget if I closed the tailgate and am too lazy to get out and check. Can't tell with a bed cover on so just a quick shift in reverse let's me know.

I'm curious about this too. It would be a neat mod.

Maybe like a hinge on the top of the handle assembly. But it would have to lock to be able to open the tailgate

I openednup the gate and realized that it would be a pretty big mod..........some major cutting would be involved and I am not anywhere experienced enough to do what is required...............I did put a tie-down rail on the tailgate though.......i will post up some pictures of that mod. :)

Why not a mirror on a magnet? Figure out where best to put it. On off. Simple. Remember the spot. Might be backward. Will try tomorrow and get back to you

    Just bought it!
I've had that same exact thought! you ever get around to trying it out?? Sounds like a good rainy day project. I'll have to keep an eye out for a good mirror and some magnets to see what I can come up with. Wouldn't have to be pretty, nobody would see it under there.

Too many to list. See build page. Link in signature
why not just relocate the camera to the bumper? its free and would only take a little bit of rewiring
