Im looking for a soft tonneau cover for my double cab. I looked at 2 by extang and it seems when you install them you lose use of the bed rail system which doesnt work for me since i need to use my bed/tie downs just about every weekend.
i need a soft cover that works with the rail system, or possible a folding hard cover that comes off easily (easier the better) but it seems everyone has mixed results here about the covers they used.
Ive searched repeatedly and cant really find an answer

Help is appreciate as well as your experiences with what cover, brand... price and where you got it would be great.

I just put in an Access cover, the Literider, and the tie downs are still usable. The rails for the soft cover are installed behind the rails for the hold downs, and are held in place by the bolts and existing threaded holes in the bed. It takes a bit longer to install than the clamp on type rails, but will be very difficult for someone to walk away with. It has a lifetime gaurentee, on all parts, and so far I like it .
One of my concerns was being able to roll it up and use the bed for hauling atvs, ..and it works just fine.

I've got an Advantage Torza top on my Access Cab. I'm sure they make one for the DC. It's a folding soft cover that allows full usage of the rail system. The cover folds up and can be taken completely off. No worries about the tarp in the winter - no snaps, etc.

You can see picts here (pages 1 & 2)

My Extang Trifecta soft cover works with the factory tie-downs on my DC SB just fine.

    Its a tri-fold like Janster's Advantage Torza.

I've had my Extang for over a year and really like it. Works like a champ in all weather conditions & lets me use my factory cleats. Goes off and on in a minute. I paid $309 shipped from mechanics-warehouse.

I have an Access LE, and it works perfectly well with the existing rails (indeed, the Tacoma model of the Access cover uses the rails as part of it's mounting), and I can still use the factory cleats and my bike fork mounts. Installed in about 15 minutes.

The Extang Trifecta sounds perfect for you. I have one on my double cab- 4 brackets that utilize rail system and allow for quick release. I painted my brackets flat black to look better when tonneau is off. Mine is the signature series canvas style- about $40 more than the standard Trifecta. Takes about 2 minutes to put on, 1 minute to remove.

Also, I leave the 4 large cleats on all the time. The tonneau doesn't touch them at all. It looks much better in person than in the picture- my truck is filthy in the picture!

if you fold that open... is it securable so that you can drive down the highway with part of it opened and it wont fly off?
i drive about 40miles every weekend with a lawnmower over to my mothers so i would only need to back section by the gate to be opened up.

How is the install?.. Simple with basic tools or complicated??? I like this cover 100% over others due to the sleek inline look. Was about to order Undercover for my Truck. But seen it on another Taco and it looked bulky.... Roll Top looks sweet...

Hey JTD, I like that mod to the brackets! I'm doing that today because my cover is off right now.

Anthony, JTD provided the pics for ya. Mine is like his except for not the signature series canvas but standard heavy duty vinyl. In one of his pics, there is a strap which when you open it up & fold it, snaps into a fasterner attached at the top of the cover.
