This has been discussed a million times over the interwebs. LEDs are not as bright as HIDs. In order to accomplish the same brightness you must use at least more than one high power LED per headlight, and then you have the problem with heat management. LEDs are great for aux lights but not for headlights. If you notice the newer cars with LEDs they have at least two LEDs per headlight, sometimes four, to compensate for weaker lumen output from a single LED.

LED lights work great for me! Plus they don't need to warm up.

    Blah blah blah...

When it comes down to a choice between:

    LEDs:
A light source that uses relatively low voltage and solid state technology to efficiently produce light by converting electrons directly into photons and can last for anywhere from 20,000 to 100,000 hours of continuous use before they start to dim and contain no toxic heavy metals.

    Or:

    HIDs:
A light source that uses high voltages to create an electric arc that burns mercury and metal salts in a fragile glass tube that eventually burns out or starts to flicker when they reach the end of their much shorter lifetime, not to mention the fact that the high voltage tends to break down the insulation on the ballasts eventually causing them to fail as well.

    I choose:
The more efficient, more environmentally friendly, longer lasting one that won't shock you like a bug zapper if you have a break in the wire insulation.

Why do you think interior and exterior building lighting, parking lot lighting and street lighting are all being changed to LEDs?

Think what you like but HID, Fluorescent and Incandescent lighting are all dying technologies and will eventually be completely phased out.

Because if one or many of the LEDs on the PCB fail, you still have many others there. HIDs are one bulb. ;)
